The Reflection Task 1b

Hello my friend, I am Halil Rıfat or in short form HR. I am from Sivas and living in Ankara because of my education. I am a student in METU and my department is Foreign Language Education. I want to find friends from other universities so let me tell you about myself a little bit. As I mentioned it before, I am a student and that is the biggest part of my life. Besides studying , I try to do some enjoyable things. I really music , for example. It has always been my dream since I was a kid therefore I really try to play some instruments and I started to play Ney almost 3 years ago. I am not very good at it but I like it. Another hobby of mine is theatre. I go to theatre at least once a month. I think it is one of the most beautiful art in the world. However, I also hate some things such as Frisbee. I think Frisbee is not a sport although many people say it is. That's all about me which I can share for now. In conclusion I really want to make new friends from different places so I hope this will be helpful :)

Hello, I'm Halil Rıfat, 33, from Sivas. I was graduated from METU English Language Teaching Department. After that, I started to work as an English teacher in a high school in a small town. I've been working the same town since then. Besides teaching, I have some hobbies such as music and retro things. Since the high school , I've been trying to play some enstruments but I can only play Ney and Baglama.I also collect some retro stuff like pocket watches and old records. My only dream is being retired and buying a house some distant part of the country.

I am not a talkative person, that's why I could not find someone to share my boring life so I want to try this way. Thanks for reading..

        A MACROBIOTIC DIET

A macrobiotic diet is based on the concept of yin and yang in Eastern philosophy and the natural balance of nature. For example, there is no meat in a macrobiotic diet because the small number of teeeth in our mouth used for chewing meat compared to the other kind of teeth. Therefore, macrobiotics believe that we are not designed to have meat in our diet. When we chew the rice, natural sugar is produced in the mouth. So, we do not need any sugar from other sources. However, of course, we need vegatables along with brown rice becouse they are such a rich source of vitamins and other essential nutrients.

EXERCISES ON PARALLELISM

#1

Our beagle loves to hunt. When someone opens the back door for her, she barrels down porch steps into the yard. She runs back and forth across the lawn in ecstasy. Her nose cruises the wet grass for smells of cats, rabbit and other presences too subtle for human detection. She sniffs and spins her tail in quick circle. Firstly, it spins clockwise then counterclockwise. these two activities, sniffing and spinning always occur together and seem to propel her along.

The government Printing Office in Washington D.C. is a source of much useful information; however, few people know about it. It is the official publishing house for the federal government. It publishes pamphlets and book on a vast number of subject ranging from the dangers of X-rays from home TV sets to the identifications of mushrooms. About 27,000 publications are offered through the Superintendent of Documents , many of which are inexpensive and there is no charge at all for some of them.

A man, John Jacob Astor, reaped America's first fortune. He was a German immigrant, who made his initial money trading Indian furs. Astor was lowborn, uneducated, and he never learned to speak English properly. Therefore, he carried on his business to the end in an accent, which was redolent of  the Hamburg gutters.
